Frangaj Family

TV Klan is one of the biggest TV stations in Albania and belongs to the Frangaj family, made of Aleksander Frangaj and his wife Alba Gina.

Aleksander Frangaj is a former journalist turned media entrepreneur with shares in TV Klan, ABC News and a company named Albania 2017, founded in 2017. He was in 2004 one of the founders of the satellite pay per view TV service Satellite+ and of the sports only pay per view platform Supersport.

He is perceived to be a pro-government media owner regardless of who holds the power and has managed successfully to switch allegiances and sides with any party in power over the past 20 years. In 1996 Frangaj ran for office as a candidate for parliament but was not elected. Frangaj’s TV Klan has been accused of being the main beneficiary of a series of government sponsored advertisement campaigns between 2008 and 2010. In 2015, he was accused of illegal construction in a protected area in the coastal resort "Laguna Blu," near the coastal town of Durres, which infuriated some of the neighbors. Frangaj denied any wrongdoing.

Alba Gina is the wife of Aleksander Frangaj. Frangaj and Gina own shares in ABC News TV. In May 2016, Redi Sata, majority shareholder of ABC News, sold 40% of his shares to Aleksander Frangaj and Alba Gina for a total of 40,000 euro. Gina was previously co-owner of the sports digital pay per view platform Supersport. Supersport was sold and merged with DigitAlb and ceased to exist as separate entity in 2016.
